Tudor has a long history of well made, purpose-built Chronographs. The most sought-after and interesting is that of the “Monte Carlo”. Boasting a 3 color dial of geneRally vibrant colors. The “Monte Carlo” is at its core, a high visibility racing Chronograph. First produced in 1970 and featured in 3 references and bezel styles; plastic bezel, stainless steel bezel, and a rotating bezel variant.
This specific Tudor “Monte Carlo” Chronograph Reference 7159/0 is the second iteration of the Tudor chronograph. Featuring a newer Valjoux cal. 234 movement allowing a Date function at the 6 o’clock position. The dial was upDated to block style markers and baton hands for a more conservative presence whilst remaining equally visible.
This watch is loved by collectors as one of the more creative and design-oriented vintage chronographs ever produced. In result, we are seeing less and less on the open market as beloved collectors are keeping them and holding onto them creating a substantial demand increased in recent years.

CASE & BRACELET
The strong case is believed to remain Unpolished with factory chamfers still present, showing honest wear from use. The screw-down pushers and Rolex signed trip-lock crown were replace at an early service at Rolex. The blue bakelite bezel remains vibrant in coloration, showing some wear but remaining in overall good condition. The watch will come supplied on a 2p Leather strap.
DIAL & HANDS
The high visibility “Two-tone” three-color “Monte Carlo” dial, is in beautiful vintage condition, with metallic blue outer minute track and subdials and matte gray inner face. The tritium lume has aged to a lovely Golden patina, exhibiting no degradation under U.V. light inspection. The orange chronograph sweep seconds hand and baton-style hour and minute hands are original to the watch, the tritium lume has aged slightly darker than the dial which is common for the Monta Carlo Tudors, under U.V. light inspections the hands so no degradation or lume loss
